European Adventures - Part Three

Our fourth day in Prague was very low key, but Tristan and I loved it. (Yes, I said fourth day, and this is part 3.  We spent our second day at Prague castle, but that was such a huge amount of stories and pictures that it is going to need some work. So, I skipped it, and you get to enjoy other days until I have it ready). This was specifically the day that Tristan's preoccupation with roses really took off. The weather had just changed from cloudy and windy to sunny fall with changing leaves and cool breezes. The roses bloomed and the trees began dressing up for their last hurrah before winter.

Roses. I spared you the majority of the pictures.

We spent the day with a dear friend who showed us around her neck of the woods in Prague. She made a point of showing us a special memorial in her neighborhood. The current inhabitants of a home had put plaques outside on the sidewalk in front of their house. It has the names of Jews who previously lived there and were imprisoned in concentration camps. Our friend told us that she sees workers come to clean the plaques regularly.

We went out to eat for lunch with our friend. The restaurant she chose was superb. I had the most European burger I have ever eaten. It was not just delicious - it was huge. Tristan's was even larger (he got to do two of his favorite Prague things that day - eat food and photograph flowers).

Since we were into trying new things, we also got to learn something new. Lemonade in Prague is anything but the American version of lemonade. It usually means a kind of mixed fruit juice drink. Tristan and I chose Strawberry-Mint Lemonades. They were tasty to the last drop. Because of Tristan's previous experience with unfamiliar drinks being alcoholic, he asked the waiter when the lemonades were brought out if they were non-alcoholic. Our waiter, a chap with an incredible sense of humor, replied, "No, no, only triple-shot Vodka." He laughed, we laughed, and our drinks weren't spiked.

My burger; I ordered it especially because bacon is one of my love languages :)

Tristan was very excited about his meal of the biggest burger on the menu and pumpkin fries.

After a long afternoon talk in the restaurant with the whole dining room to ourselves, we ended the day by taking a walk in the surrounding parks. Our friend couldn't believe the miraculous weather we were having. Since the last time thatI visited Prague the week had been historically cold for all of Europe, I was very thankful!

Note the very Prague-like cobblestones on the path and the perfect sun beams around us.
